Snow Day, Part 3
You know you're a redneck when . . . okay, so we didn't have a sled but we did have a shovel and a towel. The lil man enjoyed every minute of it. He kept saying "more, slide, more, slide".

No Sew Curtains
I cannot sew; my sister took all of those genes in the family. So I rely on glue, tape, whatever I can think of. Shannon recently blogged about the new curtains for her baby's nursery. I've been meaning to hem Harrison's drapes for months but keep putting it off. Tonight I ironed the hem with Stitch Witchery and after a few tests I perfected it. I put a damp washcloth over the fabric and pressed the iron for 10 seconds on each side. My material is REALLY thick (perfect for blocking daylight during naps) so the damper the washcloth the better.

Stocking Up
So I've read and listened to podcasts on coupons and savings, and they all say stock up when things are on sale. Our grocery store is closing for 9 months for remodeling and they're having 25% off the entire inventory. Here's my stock pile.
I need to explain something . . . Ryan is addicted to salsa hence the numerous cans of Rotel and Hunt's. One can Hot Rotel, one can Hunt's Tomato Sauce, one blender = one happy camper.

It's Done
After two coats of paint, the project is complete and I couldn't be happier. The baskets are ones I've had since H was born. I think I'll probably replace with a medium toned wicker baskets with liners and stack books on the side. It's the perfect height for H to reach in the drawers and grab the toys from the top. Not too bad for under $60!

They're Here!!!
The babies are finally here!!! For those who don't know, my friend delivered her twin baby boys this afternoon. She was beginning to think they would never get here. Baby A was 9 lbs. 12 oz. and Baby B was 7 lbs. 10 oz. (no, this is not a typo). Everyone is doing good and should be coming home by next week.

Cut, Cut
As Harrison would say, we "cut, cut" the supports for the four bottom drawers. Because the dresser is so long, we had to purchase a piece of wood 8' x 4' for the bottom shelf. It was only $10 bucks for that piece and I have plenty left over for another project (plus they cut it to size for us). I found a pint of Ralph Lauren semi-gloss paint for $6. The color will be Yacht Blue.

Mega Deals
Now that's what I call a sale! Garden Ridge has several aisles of Christmas decor 90% off. I found quite a few ornaments to use as regular decorations and I was able to stock up on ribbon and tags. I wonder if it goes to 95% or if they just box it up for next year?

Eat Mor
Harrison is finally getting to that age where he loves the indoor playgrounds at restaurants. Chick-fil-A is down the road and definitely kid friendly. The kid's meals have options including plain milk, fruit and a book as the toy. The playroom has hand sanitizer inside and out. Ryan seems to enjoy it too :)

Yet Another Project
I've been avoiding Harrison's closet until the attic insulation was complete and he was out of the house. I was going to paint it green to match the walls but I couldn't find that paint can, so I settled for blue. I wanted some color b/c I'm sure it will show little boy dirt soon enough. We decided to scrape the door too and give it a fresh coat of cream. Now that it's finished I'm pleased with the blue. I'll show another picture after I finish the dresser that will go inside.

Trash to Treasure
I've been on the lookout for a solid wood piece of furniture for Harrison's room. But I was hoping to find one I could customize. I found this gem at the Goodwill and priced at 38 bucks. I'm going to remove the bottom 4 drawers and make that into a big shelf for baskets and books. I found inspiration from another blogger!

Taking Care of Business
Lately, Mr. H has shown an interest in using the commode so we decided to get him a little potty seat. Okay, I was completely amazed at all the options (probably 20). This one matches our bathroom, made in the USA from recycled material, part stool, and can be cleaned with a power washer. Back to the story, H needed some reading material (Sports Illustrated) to take care of business. After he was done messing around, he examined his new throne for an hour. Geezh. I think I might have to put it away until he's really ready :)

Had A Bad Day
So we woke up this morning to discover we had no hot water. I turned the faucet and no, nothing, nada. Oh great. Ryan was pretty concerned about the pipes busting. I bundled up and checked the crawl space and I couldn't see any damage. However after I shut the front door, I noticed light coming through and it wasn't from the window. Our wooden door split from the bottom to the window. Oh great (again). Is this day over yet?

Wet Froggy
After we found out I was pregnant, we bought this cute little raincoat. It's one of those items that you can't resist. We knew it would be forever before he (which at this point didn't know the gender) could wear it but it looked cute hanging on the wall. We found the boots at Target a couple of months later. The time has arrived and he loves them.
