Wired

Guess who's back . . . I think Mr. Squirrel has our house wired. Last night, Ryan and I decided we would put the original feed in the feeder since we have a 10 lb. bag just sitting here. Well, he's been poking around all day and we haven't given in to him yet. The score remains the same with a slight edge to Mr. S.

Chalk Full of Food

Almost six months ago, I started keeping track of all the new solid food Harrison has tried. Fortunately for us, he hasn't been a picky eater. I'm a play-it-by-the-rules type of gal, so every 4 days I would prepare him something new to try (they say to wait a couple of days to make sure they are not allergic). After several months of this, the newness was wearing off and I just try to keep up with his enormous appetite. We're still eating healthy but we've thrown cation to the wind and gave him little bits of pizza on Sunday, which of course he loved. BTW, the best homemade baby food book which I still use today is called "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron.

Where's Mr. Roboto?

Peek-a-boo never gets old for Mr. Roboto. Sometimes when there's not a blanket around, you have to make due with whatever object is within grabbing distance.

Dream Drawer

In Ryan's world, this would be his ultimate dresser. One object per drawer of school items you hardly ever use. We have boxes of papers and supplies from elementary to college, sometimes it's hard to let go of that doodle from 7th period. BTW this is from Anthropologie, which is by far my favorite store.

Big Boy Seat

Harrison is helping Ryan install his "big boy seat". The new perspective has been a big hit with him.  Seeing him in it is just another reminder that our little boy is growing up so fast :(

A Sack of Safflower

The photo says it all and now we're stuck with a 5 lb. bag of safflower. Here's the new score Squirrels-2, Harrison-1 and Ryan-negative 1. Ryan thinks WW should take some of the blame.

Click, Clack, MOO

Run to your nearest library or bookstore and pick up a copy of "Click, Clack, MOO. Cows That Type" written by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin. We just discovered it this weekend and can't put it down. Here's an excerpt "Dear Farmer Brown, The barn is very cold at night. We'd like some electric blankets. Sincerely, The Cows".

The Hydrant

Suppose you had a fire hydrant named after you, where would it be? Only people with 5 letters or less are the privileged ones. THE RYAN would be in Timbuktu.

New Favorite

I thought this day would never come, Harrison has replaced Cheerios with a new favorite. He practically jumped out of Ryan's arms for a taste of this new fruit. It's strawberry season and we're searching for a patch to have him graze on.

New Strategy

Here's the latest on the Bird/Squirrel/Ryan/Harrison situation, a friend (W-Squared) recommended we try safflower in the bird feeder. Ryan has filled it up and Harrison is patiently waiting for its first guest. Someone is going to have a tasty meal tomorrow . . . who will it be?

Homemade Detergent

We started making our washing detergent a couple of years ago and I love it. Only three ingredients and it has the "clean" smell with no extra perfumes and words you can't pronounce. Plus for me, the preparation is a stress reliever.

Warning-Sleeping Baby!

Just when we think he's phasing out Nap #2, he pulls this stunt. So angelic, our little one.

Spring Has Sprung

Our daffidals have finally bloomed. Now, we're patiently waiting for the warm weather to follow.

St. Patty's Day

Hopefully next year I can remember to wear my green suspenders.

A Day in the Life

Just chilling and relaxing on a walk around the block. And yes, it's pajama Monday. You can't beat the fact that "it's so cute" if an 11-month-old is wearing his PJs in public while people think his mom is lazy and/or crazy if she's in hers. Okay, I wasn't in my pajamas but I really wanted to be :)

Lucy has a love/hate relationship with Harrison while he on the other hand just loves her. He's discovered hugging this week and can't get enough of his favorite companion.

Cat Fancy

So Lucy has been begging us to take her portrait for Cat Fancy. Never again, she was such a diva on set. Then she ate the berries.

Trouble Brewing

Last time these two got together, there was formula and pacifiers everywhere, I'm not even going into what happened today. Harrison wanted no part of it.

Spoonman

We've learned spoons are very entertaining at restaurants when we're knuckle heads and we forget the Cheerios. Notice the lack of people and the late afternoon sun . . . yes, we eat early with Mr. Spoonman.

Plan B

Apparently, thistle is an acquired taste. No birds, no squirrels. Harrison decided to dump it and start over. Squirrels-2, Ryan-0, Harrison-1.

Canvas Numbers

I'm finally finished! I've been thinking about his project for about a year now. . . I learned Mod Podge is not my friend.

Welcome Home

Harrison loves to greet his daddy after they've both had a hard day of playing at the office.

And The Battle Continues

This morning Mr. Squirrel woke up to a pleasant surprise, a new tasty treat. Squirrels-2, Ryan-0. Stay tuned for the next round.

Battle of the Seeds

Ryan has some issues with the squirrels eating the bird seed. He has gone to great lengths to keep them out it. His latest attempt involves changing the food to thistle. I have my doubts about this working. I guess time will tell. So far the score is Squirrels-1 Ryan-0.

Oddwater

Oddwater is the latest exhibit at the aquarium and it's truly amazing. I had a hard time deciding which image to post. The exhibit takes a look at some of the most bizarre life forms in the ocean and shows how their unusual adaptations help them survive. The animals are surrounded by hand-blown glass art.

Cocktails Anyone?

Seriously? We should have turned around as soon as we saw this sign. Unfortunately, we never learn our lesson.

Signs of Spring

Spring is coming! Check out our first daffodil blooms.

Nap Time

I think someone is playing possum here. It reminded me of the photo below.

Our little one when he was one month old.

A Pair of Pears

I love pears in photographs, paintings and my belly. Whenever they are grouped in pairs, I tend to think of them as lovers. These two are relying on each other for support and comfort (before I eat them).

Classics

I walk past this house nearly everyday and it wasn't until my sister came to visit that I realized how funny this contrast is. An old victorian home with a vintage El Camino displayed out front, this person loves the classics.

Into the Mouth

Harrison is curious about everything and the answers come from placing whatever it is into the mouth. I'm still amazed that he can find a speck of lint in our carpet an hour after I've vacuumed.
