New Generation

Harrison is showing all the ladies how to play Angry Birds. It's the generation of technology. I really can't imagine all the advances in another 5 years. I remember a time BEFORE computers! Dinosaur = me.

Burlap Curtains

As many know, I'm obsessed with burlap. I was trying to find more material for Waverly's curtains b/c the panels don't quite reach across all the windows. I had a 40% off coupon for Hancocks and the white backing happened to be on sale too. I'm pleased with the way they turned out. 

Since I don't sew, I used my trusty Stitch Witchery. It killed my sister that I'm making my curtains this way! Ha ha.

Wall of Smiles

Helping Hands

Waverly is a dear little lady EXCEPT when it's time to eat. She puts a hungry, hungry hippo to shame. We'll be feeding her and the food will run out. She'll look down at the empty bowl then let out a YELL followed by some screaming/crying. It's actually really hilarious. The other day she ate 4 bowls of fresh pears with oatmeal! I can't wait until she can eat everything we are, although there might not be enough food left for me :)

On The Move

Miss Waverly Ann is a moving machine. She's not getting the belly fully off the ground but she can easily get from room to room. It's just a matter of time before she really starts picking up some speed.

Poor Baby

Oh my little one has been sick all week long with a nasty bug. We knew it was bad when he didn't speak more than five sentences yesterday. Hang in there buddy.

Bathroom Oasis

After months of hard work, Melissa's bathroom is finally in the completion stage. Wow, she's done an amazing job tiling and painting everything by herself. It reminds me of a room you'd see in House Beautiful.

Retail Therapy

All of us enjoyed a little retail therapy at H&M. It's been a stressful year already.

Okay check this out. This is an area down from the bathrooms in the shopping center. There are two changing tables behind the curtains on the right (complete with wipes and baby powder), the left side has rockers and the back area is a kids play station. One word . . . FANCY.

Firsts

It's her first trip to IKEA. Unfortunately, it was a mad house in there (note to self, do not go to IKEA on the weekends). Her favorite part was feeling all the textiles.

Oh, the silhouettes of the palm trees, gotta love them.

Heading Out West

Waverly and I flew out west to sunny Cali to enjoy some time with Auntie M. She was a sweet heart on both flights and received many compliments.

Only in Hollywood would you see a sign like this. It cracked me up!

Lego Firefighter

Pretty soon, I think we'll have enough Legos to make our own firefighter! Have you seen the new female line of Legos? I wonder if Waverly will be an addict too?

Two Little Monkeys

These two little monkeys are really starting to interact with each other. Waverly is Harrison's biggest groupie, her face just lights up every time he's near.

The other day on the way home from school we were talking about recess:

Me: Did you play with Nate today?

H: No, he wasn't there. I played with Olive.

Me: Oh, Olive, I just love that name. What if my name was Pickle? Wouldn't that be funny? What would your name be?

H: House

Me: Oh, that's a good one too. What would Waverly's name be?

H: Manhole

I didn't have a response for this. You never know what he's going to say!

So our neighbor makes the best chocolate chip cookies we've ever had but there's a problem. She won't share the recipe! I've tried to find it on Pinterest but no luck. Does anyone have a To Die For Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe? See above photo. We need it bad!!!

Mr. Juiceman

Uncle Siege drove down for a visit this weekend and he brought along this juice maker. H was extremely excited and managed to concoct a pretty tasty beverage. Maybe we need to invest in one?

This Old House

Oh, it's the blah time of year outside for our yard and house. Normally I wouldn't post a pic of the house in January but this is the BEFORE picture! We going to make a few landscaping changes this spring and next week we're having the house painted. Okay, not all the house just the trim, gables and our laundry room addition. The addition is just plain boring, white siding that doesn't flow into the brick. I'll post a before picture of that too but I'll wait until the reveal.

Ready for School?

I'm realizing each stage of your child's life leads to new concerns and worries. Just when you have one part figured out and time flies and it's time to make the next decision. Am I making sense? Probably not. Anyways, it's January and most school are registering for August. Spots fill fast so choices need to be made quickly. I have a tour scheduled today with the school down the street and I'm researching a couple of other options too. I'm shocked we're already to this part of my little boy's life. Makes me kinda sad. I wish I could just stop time right now . . .

Six Month Stats

Miss W had her 6-month wellness check today and she's one healthy little lady. She's 27.5 inches long (96%!!!), 15 lbs. 5 oz. (35%) and her head is 16.5 inches (33%). Unfortunately, she's going through a growth spurt and teething so I haven't been getting much sleep lately. If I was smart I'd go to sleep at 7:30 when she does but there's always too many projects to finish :)

Reading Nook

Isn't this the coolest idea? I'm thinking about converting H's closet into a reading nook. Then I can sneak in there and relax or take a nap ;)

Sibling Love

This is her wake up smile. As soon as someone peaks at her in the crib, she flashes one of these.

Six Months!

Happy 6 months birthday Waverly! I really can't believe it but I can't imagine our lives without her. 

Every 6-month-old needs her own tutu. This was a Christmas gift from Auntie M.

She's not quite sitting up on her own but getting closer each day. She's able to get up on all fours and rock back and forth. She loves to turn on her mobile's music while laying in the crib. She's starting to have separation anxiety and likes to be where the action is at. 

Everything goes directly to her mouth . . . nom, nom, nom.

Lil Fan

Ahhh, our little fan is too cute. I'm glad we were able to convince him to wear his jersey to school today.

Monthly Dates

I found this idea on Pinterest and thought it was perfect for Ryan's Christmas gift. I bought 12 envelopes and wrote down 12 different date ideas. This month we'll be staying indoors for our date and picking up some Chipotle and challenging each other in a round of Rock Band. This date is nice b/c it doesn't require a sitter.

On the back, we'll circle to date to ensure we do it. Once you have kids, it can be really hard finding time for a date but you need to make time for each without the kids :)

Cubes Full of Food

Waverly is at the stage where I can begin to make and store her baby food. Super Baby Foods by Ruth Yaron is my go-to guide. My favorite part of the book is the monthly guide on what their digestive system can handle. So far she's had rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes, avocado, squash and whole milk plain yogurt. She never refuses a meal :)
