Pink and Blue Blooms

Our hydrangeas are in full bloom. Two of the bushes are blue and the other one is a pinky/purple mix. I think it's a sign we'll have a boy because one of blues represent Harrison, the pink is Lucy so that leaves an extra blue. Ryan thinks I'm crazy . . . maybe he's right ;)

Napper

Lately, Harrison has decided to give up his afternoon nap. However, put him in a stroller and it's Mr. Snoozie.

After picking him up from school, I asked him if he remembered to use his manners. He informed me that he was running low and he would save them for Saturday and keep them in his life.

We're still working on potty training. Anyone have tips? He said he would be trained by the last Saturday. I'm hoping it's not the last Saturday of the year!

Always Something

As I was nesting last night, I discovered water under our backdoor mat. Our hot water heater has been leaking and we're not sure when it started. As Ryan says "It's always something!"

Move It All

Is it just me, or do you think it's odd that someone is moving this house? It's pretty old and I'm not sure it will survive a move. I guess there's no place like home.

Tornado Season

Instead of a pleasant spring, it's been a pretty scary tornado season. Luckily, we escaped the past couple of weeks without any major damage. Please keep all the victims of tornados in your prayers. It's going to be a long road for recovery.

Week 34!

I'm around 34 weeks and we're still doing good. The baby is opening his/her eyes when awake and closing them when sleeping. He/She recognizes voice and sound patterns from the outside world. The baby weighs about 5 pounds and is around 18 inches long. If the baby was born this week, he/she has a 99% chance of survival outside of the womb!

Maternity Top

So my mom bought me a new maternity top and I tried it on to make sure it fit my watermelon. Here's my conversation with H.

Me: Harrison what do you think of my new shirt?

H: Well Mama . . . I think it's pretty fancy. (pause) Maybe you could go dancing in it.

Me: Maybe, maybe so.

TV Memories

Does the name Jordan Catalano ring a bell? I found all the episodes of My So-Called Life on Netflix and now I'm obsessed with watching all of them. I remember CJ had the biggest crush ever on Jared Leto.

Big Brother Class

We attended the Big Brother / Big Sister class today at the hospital. The nurses gave each child some scrubs, a hair net and a face mask. Paging Dr. Harrison!

Say "CHEESE!"

The kids practiced holding the baby, feeding, swaddling and changing the diaper. Then we got to tour the nursery and birthing area. Both Ryan and Harrison looked a little scared when they saw an actual newborn.

Target Display

Have you been to Target lately? I had to snap a shot of this gigantic cob of corn. I'm pretty sure their inspiration came from artist Claus Oldenburg. Click HERE to check out his work.

The Crib AKA Jungle Gym

I started to get a little worried because we didn't have the crib set up yet so Ryan and Harrison put it together this past weekend. I decided I should cover the mattress with a blanket in case anyone decided to sneak in there. Well, the other day H was being really quiet so I knew I needed to check on him. He took the vacuum cleaner apart and several pieces of it in the crib along with the dusty canister. He was having the best time. I tried to explain it's where the baby will sleep and we shouldn't put a vacuum cleaner in there.

A few days later, I walked into the room and H had one leg on the back, one leg on the front and both hands on the side. He said, "I'm a MONKEY, I'm a MONKEY!" That night I heard Lucy jump in there! Geez!  I guess it's time for me to put the crib tent up but I know Harrison will think that's a new adventure.

I took down the two photos that were on this wall and added some wall decals from Hobby Lobby. I'm paranoid that whatever is hanging will fall on the baby so I thought the decals were a perfect solution. Plus, babies like contrasting colors. Not too much longer!

New Baby Book

I found a great book for Harrison on the topic of bringing home the new baby. What to Expect When the New Baby Comes Home by Heidi Murkoff covers almost every topic with siblings. It shows an illustration of a baby and mentions the umbilical cord, how babies' legs are aren't straight at first and of the the wrinkles. Let's hope all this preparation pays off!

Sing a Song

Ryan was cooking spaghetti tonight and here's the conversation:

H: Mama, what's this?

Me: A special tool for stirring spaghetti noodles.

H: What else is it used for?

Me: A microphone. Go ahead sing a song.

H: (in his singing voice which is very loud) I've got muddy water in my pipes!!!

Me: That sounds like a blues song!

I have no idea where he came up with those lyrics.

Dentist Appointment 2

Harrison had his second dentist appointment today. In the waiting area, they have a slide for the kiddos to chill out on. H decided he was a snake today and started rolling all over the play area. I had to smile because as adults we probably shouldn't act this way in public (they might lock us up). I love the innocence of children and their goal is just to have fun. When was the last time you acted like a snake? Maybe you should today, it might relieve some of that stress :)

House Style

I almost majored in architecture but I didn't. Therefore, I don't know what style of house we have. It was built in the 1920's. Does anyone out there know?

Happy 6th Anniversary!

Today's our 6th year anniversary and the traditional gift is candy. Ryan's favorite is gummy worms so I decided to spell out a message for him. After he saw it, he told me a troll must have eat the "s". Those sneaky trolls are always messing up my spelling!

3-Year-Old Check Up

I've been completely busy lately and I just realized I forgot to blog about H's 3-year-old check up. He's 3 ft, 1.25 inches (43%) and weighs 33 pounds (63%). The nurse took his blood pressure and he did really well. They tried to do an eye exam (it shows pictures of a circle, house, square (which he called a window) and a heart. It wasn't really successful, it's hard for a 3-year-old to remember to keep covering one eye :)

In the above picture, Harrison is "blowing" hugs to me. Pretty cute if I do say so myself.

Lamp Update

A couple of you told me how much you liked my white lamps. However, I'm behind on blogging and already painted the base a different color. Now, I'm thinking this matches our wall color too much and I need to go darker. I'm using the 67 cent craft paint from Hobby Lobby so it's not that big of a deal to change. I've only painted one lamp so who knows I might end up going back to white :)

Website Wednesday - About.com

Our sixth year anniversary is this Saturday and I not sure what to get Ryan. I normally have to google the year to find out traditions or symbols for each year. Click HERE to read about traditional and modern gifts. Hmmm, for the number six the traditional is candy or iron and the modern is wood. I read on the site someone gave their husband a Iron Maiden t-shirt. I thought that was pretty funny but I decided the shirts were a little too scary to me and Harrison :) Back to the drawing board.

First Blooms!

Confession, I'm super stoked on our hydrangea bushes. Every morning, I look out our window to check on them. I really wasn't expecting to get blooms this year so this is a pleasant surprise. Now we're wondering what color they will turn out.

Ryan would love a deep red/purple, any tips? Does a rusty nail in the soil work?

Baby Necessity

I've made my list of everything I need to get done before the baby comes and I have about 12 items on it.  YIKES. Something we already have is Fels-Naptha. This stuff is the secret to getting out all baby stains. I was able to save most of Harrison's baby clothes because of it.

Happy Mother's Day!

I treated my mom to a Mother's Day tea and tour of the Symphony Designer House. The pics from the nursery are part of this house.

Doesn't this sun room make you want to curl up with a book (or laptop).

Here's another cozy room. Maybe it's all the pillows that attracts me.

Here's a shot of a kid's playroom. It's a little closet area off of the media room. They lined the walls and ceiling with cedar and the floor has astro turf. I just wanted to sit on the floor and hang out for awhile.

Nursery Pics

The nursery is coming together beautifully! I love the wooden bird mobile.

Every child's room needs the alphabet.

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I would never have to live without you." -Winnie the Pooh

Confession, this is NOT our nursery. We don't even have the crib set up yet! I'll post more about this tomorrow.

Monthly Prego Photo

Here's my monthly photo and less than two months to go! The baby and I are doing fairly good. I'm growin' and growin'. I was very lucky and didn't have to experience the summer months with Harrison. With this baby, I'm already feeling the summer swelling.

Watermelon Cravin'

For the past couple of months, I've really been looking forward to watermelon season and it's finally arrived! I purchased a seedless one the other day and it was heavenly :)

Have you seen these square watermelons? I'm not sure why they needed to mess with the shape but as long as they taste the same, I'm all for it.

Website Wednesday - Krazy Coupon Lady

Has anyone seen the show Extreme Couponing on TLC? Andria and I watched it a couple of weeks ago and it's pretty insane. Some shopper saved around 20K a year but would you really need to buy 500 rolls of toilet paper then shove them under the kids' beds? It was entertaining :)

Click HERE for today's website, The Krazy Coupon Lady. She features daily deals and tips for beginners.

Garden Growin'

We were fortunate enough to plant the garden before all the rain started. Harrison and I planted marigold all around the perimeter then we added green peppers, jalapenos, and cilantro in the middle. Last year we didn't have much luck with broccoli or squash so we decided to create a salsa garden this year.

31 Weeks!

I'm 31 weeks and entering into the 8th month! The baby will start to gain a half a pound a week until delivery. If the baby was born now, it might have a callous on its thumb from sucking it in the womb :)

I'm pretty behind on blogging and it seems like I'll never catch up. I might have to take a little break from it so I can finish getting ready for the baby.

Sunday Stroll

We took a stroll down by the river today and half of the pathway was closed b/c of all the water.

I couldn't make it all the way across so Harrison told me all about it.
